Acoustic Properties
How snow changes sound properties
Snowfall has a unique sound compared to other form of precipitations. Snow when fall in a lake or water surface produces sound quite similar, despite the sizes and shapes of individual snowflakes.
On the ground snow act as a sound absorber which minimize the sound over the surface. Because of the air trapped between snowflakes and dampen vibrations. When snow cover the area about 2 centimeters, it changes the acoustic properties the area.
